The ignition coils, fuel pump, electric fan, stereo, and other system components are all powered by the alternator. The alternator in your vehicle is critical to its proper operation. The engine through the serpentine belt and crankshaft pulley turn the alternator. The alternator is then spun, and the alternator creates a magnetic field, which generates energy and current.   The car uses the battery power to start the car and power electrical systems. However, once the car is running and the serpentine belt is rotating, the alternator supplies the power.

Signs your Alternator is bad

Alternators are a common piece to fail in your vehicle, many things can go bad from the controller or the copper and magnetic field itself inside the alternator, or wiring . When you’re alternator is going bad, there’s often signs like

– The battery light coming on

-Lights that are very dim when the car is running

-The car dying after getting a jump

-The car immediately dying after removing jumper cables,

There are many different reasons for an alternator to show signs of going out

How will you know if your Alternator is Bad?

If your alternator is bad and it won’t charge the battery or power the vehicle systems. If it’s not charging the battery, when you turn your car off and go to start it, the battery won’t have enough charge to start it. It will cause a no start because it’s not charging the battery enough to start the car.

Sometimes the alternator will run a half capacity for some time. Just barely not charging the battery but enough to run the electrical systems on the vehicle and therefore you may have to be getting a lot of jump starts and it’s running fine once it’s on but it’s not charging the battery. You may not need a battery but a new alternator.

There’s many different reasons for an alternator, not to be working there. Since alternator, is turned by the serpentine belt in turn by the crankshaft pulley. The belt itself could be bad, the belt itself could be broken, it could not, it could be very slippery, not turning alternator successfully. The alternator itself could be slippery which caused this the belt to slip on it. When if the alternator is getting turned and is is getting turned by the crankshaft and serpentine belt. Then it could be the power wire from the alternator to the battery is loose, disconnected, or damaged. It could be the alternator is good. It just that main power wire is bad, which causes it not to transfer the electricity. Other things could be the computer itself is bad. Not commanding the alternator to create current. And again that if the computer’s bad or the wiring to the alternator from the computer is bad. Something as little as a ground can cause problems or even a broken fuse. If the alternator fuze is bad, then the alternator won’t charge at all charge anything in producing the electric electrical current, the oftentimes that that is bad. Maybe the main fuse to the fuse box is bad, there’s many different reasons that cause alternator problems.
